Freehand greyshaded rose on upper arm.
Did some more tattoo studying, used mainly 100% black, with occasional wash of 60%. I've decided I really enjoy "pepper" shading, and I'm working on blending the traditional wash techniques in with the new techniques I'm picking up.

IntenZe japanese black. 5RL and 7MS

well i also am just starting out im lisenced for about a year and a half and when i went to my shop that im at now i was told it was a waste of time because the skin is very different, they had me practice on my legs and my friends that didnt really mind and just wanted ink?. idk though its scary at first but it is the quickest way to get better. good luck

Awesome work, fan of the rose, not the leaves. When I do gray shading I do 100% black for most of the shading and feather that out to create my tones then I go back into the black with a one drop to really get a smooth gradation. Then I go and add all the really subtle details with the one drop.

Your flower has alot of character with the lines but not with shading, those rips and bumps in the rose should be slightly accented by your shading to give the petals their movement.
